Das hat sehr geholfen bei der Entwicklung der Firma: Unter 186 Teilnehmern ist skobbler als Sieger aus der Navteq LBS Challenge 2009 hervorgegangen und hat damit knapp eine halbe Million US-Dollar gewonnen. Das Hamburger Startup bietet eine Kombination aus Navigation und Community und hilft mit Live Location Ratings dabei, neue Locations zu entdecken. Skobbler’s Gratis-Service basiert auf Twitter-Messages sowie der neuen Twitter GeoLocation API.
Im Interview mit Viktoria von Tiburon-TV spricht Produktmanager Philipp Kandal auch über die ehrgeizigen Pläne für 2010: „Wir werden noch mehr Plattformen launchen. Je nachdem welche Plattformen sich durchsetzen, werden wir uns darauf fokussieren. Im Moment ist das iPhone ganz weit vorne...“ Skobbler ist exklusiver Navigationsanbieter für E-Plus und hat gerade ein Produkt mit T-Mobile gelaunched. Gesucht werden aber weiterhin attraktive Kooperationspartner: Operator und Content-Partner mit relevantem Location Content und Apple selber sowieso;)

One of Europe’s most innovative LBS start-ups and winner of the Navteq LBS challenge 2009 is Hamburg-based skobbler. At Mobile Monday Berlin, co-founder Philipp Kandal introduced skobbler’s lifestyle navigation software for mobile phones: „Skobbler combines an Internet community with a free mobile phone navigation system. We’re offering the total package of LBS: After checking out what is going on around you now and choosing your location, skobbler guides you there via vehicle or pedestrian navigation.“
Skobbler works both with targeted local search advertisement and couponing. The startup results from a management buy-out of Europe’s no.1 PND provider Navigon and has now more than 25.000 registered users.
