The Five Most Promising Mobile Startups

From new online services to software applications - there are plenty of bright innovations from startups to enhance the mobile experience. In today’s edition of “The Top 5”, Tiburon-TV introduces five intriguing mobile companies with promising products: Goojet, Nulaz, Yoose, Campfire with CATOOZ and barcoo.



Mobile Widget and Communication Platform Goojet offers direct access to a real-time feed of news, blogs, videos and user-generated posts tailored to the preferences of its users. Goojet runs on 400+ devices and has become the #1 mobile social media in its home market, France. The startup has just raised its second round of financing to the tune of €6 million.



With interactive location based service Nulaz you can see where your friends are, share locations, view local info as well as send and receive messages. Amsterdam-based M2Mobi has just released Nulaz 0.3 with a completely touchable interface that will allow you to go through the whole application without any keyboard. Berlin and Singapore-based Yoose is introducing a new location-aware mobile couponing ecosystem. Without cluttered wallets, coupons, loyalty cards, shopping lists, and the like can be kept in your pocket on your cellphone. Click here to also watch a Yoose pitch.



Danish Campfire A/S offers an interactive comic book service for mobile handsets called CATOOZ. All comics on the mobile comic platform are digital adaptations of well-known printed stories, but with added sound and vibration effects. The service is currently available in Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, and Germany.



Barcoo offers transparency to consumers during shopping: After having scanned the barcode of a product with a cell phone camera, the shopper gets specific information on the scanned product - price comparisons, user ratings, allergy and organic information as well as information concerning sustainable consumerism.

The Five Most Promising French Startups

Here they are – the most exciting startups from beautiful France. Our „Top 5“ choice is: Goojet, Lingueo, Silentale, MyID.is and Webwag.

Only last week Goojet announced that it has raised €6 million in second round funding. At the same time, the French startup is coming out with an updated version of its mobile content and services suite. As Marketing Manager Cédric Giorgi explains: „Goojet enhances your mobile experience by aggregating a number of services and content offerings into one portal. Users can create their mobile world as well as select and customize the services they need.“

Language social network Lingueo offers courses with native speakers in 36 languages around the world. Prices of Lingueo’s one-to-one classes start as low as 10 per hour. The Global Connections specialist for Language Exchange has been founded by Arnaud Portanelli, Johann Querne and Guillaume le Dieu de Ville.

Paris-based startup Silentale allows you to store all your digital conversations in one place and access them from anywhere. MyID.is is all about verifying your online identity: Founded by Charles Nouÿrit, the Digital Identity Certification Platform allows people to claim their real identity online. The site entered into public beta at the end of March and offers its service free of charge - users only have to pay a small setup fee.

Co-Founder and CEO Florent Pitoun explains: „ Webwag is a powerful web tool that helps users create a personalized home page with data feeds and web 2.0 services accessible from any connected device.“ Webwag Mobile 2.0 offers a solution to easily access all your internet services and allows you to download mobile widgets for free.

Cedric Giorgi – Goojet: Really addictive @ Le Mobile 2.0

Cedric Giorgi is marketing manager at mobile web company Goojet.com: „We developed a mobile application where you can select different services and put together widgets to create your own mobile portal. It becomes a media because all the widgets you have selected give you notifications...There’s also a newsfeed in the application so you can be sure it’s your mobile portal. Part of it is like a Facebook for mobile with people you meet in Goojet. The other part is a little bit like Netvibes for mobile.“ The Toulouse- and Paris-based French startup launched a public beta in June 2008 and will start to get some money in one or two months. On top of that, Goojet generates traffic for partners: „There are all kinds of mobile websites available from Goojet“ explains Cedric and adds „we also create mobile marketing campaigns for brands using Goojet applications and provide an environment where brands can create a small application.“ Cedric finds Goojet „really addictive, because in Goojet you have everything. All the mobile web and much more is available and prehanded for Blackberry and iPhone.“ Goojet’s founders and investors want to reach as many as one million users in 2010 and definitely want to go international by then: „It’s in the gene of Goojet“ says Cedric. For now, they’ll explore Spain and Italy.
