Christian Geissendoerfer – Yoose: Mobile coupon wallet @ Le Mobile 2.0

In his interview with Viktoria, Yoose-founder and CEO Christian Geissendoerfer shares his ideas on making mobile advertisement different: „It’s often so annoying with all the ads that cover the content...We put all our energy on coupons on the mobile phone, i.e. 10% coupons for an adidas store or coupons that can be redeemed mobile or online again – like for a download of a mobile game.“ Christian adds that „more and more retailers and brands are looking into multichannel strategies and mix between the web and mobile, i.e. mobile social network aka-aki.“ While offering „a mobile coupon wallet“, location is one of the drivers for the company, even though it’s not Yoose’s main one. According to Christian, larger advertisers are especially keen on getting location-based advertisement to work. He explains: „Location-based coupons are not only interesting for big advertisers like McDonalds, where the coupon can show you the way to the next McDonalds, but also for small shops i.e. in a shopping mall.“ Yoose offers small flat fee packages of about € 20-50 per month for around 2000 coupons that can be distributed through the platform. There’s a performance-based model for large advertisers where Yoose charges for the redemption of coupons. Founded in 2008, Yoose.com will be launched officially in second quarter of 2009 in Berlin with a very localized offering for Berlin-based retailers. „As soon as we have the first returns out of that launch, then we’ll take it quickly to other German cities and later on we’ll go international“, says Christian and adds „we’ll look into Asian countries since they are very open to new technology – some of the ideas we implement even come from Japan...“ Last but not least - as Viktoria points out - Yoose could use other mobile applications as multipliers for its idea, so what we find here is undoubtedly a very interesting business model... Cedric Giorgi – Goojet: Really addictive @ Le Mobile 2.0

Cedric Giorgi is marketing manager at mobile web company Goojet.com: „We developed a mobile application where you can select different services and put together widgets to create your own mobile portal. It becomes a media because all the widgets you have selected give you notifications...There’s also a newsfeed in the application so you can be sure it’s your mobile portal. Part of it is like a Facebook for mobile with people you meet in Goojet. The other part is a little bit like Netvibes for mobile.“ The Toulouse- and Paris-based French startup launched a public beta in June 2008 and will start to get some money in one or two months. On top of that, Goojet generates traffic for partners: „There are all kinds of mobile websites available from Goojet“ explains Cedric and adds „we also create mobile marketing campaigns for brands using Goojet applications and provide an environment where brands can create a small application.“ Cedric finds Goojet „really addictive, because in Goojet you have everything. All the mobile web and much more is available and prehanded for Blackberry and iPhone.“ Goojet’s founders and investors want to reach as many as one million users in 2010 and definitely want to go international by then: „It’s in the gene of Goojet“ says Cedric. For now, they’ll explore Spain and Italy. Cedric points out: „These are very interesting markets for us – people love to communicate and want to have lots of social tools on their mobiles.“ More interviews from Le Mobile 2.0 will follow in the days to come @ www.tiburon-tv.com
