Georg Broxtermann – Orbster: Cool GPS Games for Creative Players @ European Venture Market

Good news for European fans of Location Based Games: German startup Orbster offers an online and mobile-integrated game platform that allows users to create GPS Multiplayer Games like treasure and scavenger hunts, historical timetravels as well as edutainment games. Founded in 2008, Orbster now has over 80.000 registered users. The company’s main product GPS Mission was the first worldwide playable GPS game for the iPhone and one of the top downloads in the German App Store.

While Orbster faces fierce competition from US companies Foursquare and Gowalla, they’re quite happy with what they have done in Germany so far, CEO Georg Broxtermann says. To extend apps to other markets and handsets and to come up with some new blockbuster games (watch out for the LBS version of Settlers of Catan...), the game developer is now looking for funding.

Beres Seelbach – Lautlos durch Deutschland: Sustainable Transportation @ European Venture Market

Beres Seelbach is driven by a vision to reduce urban noise and air pollution: Inspired by China where electric mobility is highly developed, the young entrepreneur started the electric vehicle franchise business Lautlos durch Deutschland. In 2008, Beres opened his first store Lautlos durch Berlin with a line of green-tech vehicles including e-bikes and electric cars. Beres plans to open at least 30 other Lautlos durch Deutschland store franchises until the end of next year.

Apparently, the world of electric cars is expanding and after Germany’s cabinet launched a campaign to put one million electric cars on the road by 2020, within ten years, they will probably be everywhere. „We want 50% of this market“ Beres says. He offers good financing possibilities and points out the amazing benefits of driving electric vehicles: In addition to reducing energy consumption and cutting greenhouse gas emissions, they are not too expensive to buy, remarkably low maintenance and low cost of operation!
