Most of you probably know that Portugal is an ideal sunshine get-away from cold northern European weather, but are you aware of the exciting tech startups that have recently been founded in the country of seafarers? Tiburon-TV introduces you to the five most promising ones among them: Adegga, handivi, Tarpipe, The Star Tracker and stream19. Social networks and networking tools like Social Wine Discovery service Adegga.com are having quite an impact on the wine industry: Adegga lets you track the wines you are drinking and share your wine discoveries with the community. You can also access the service using your mobile while visiting a wine shop, see what other people think about a wine and check wine prices on other shops. Adegga has been co-founded by Lisbon entrepreneur André Ribeirinho.

For those of you who speak Portuguese - here’s Viktoria interviewing André in this poetic language. There’s also a mini video with a live wine tasting of André’s wines. Not only for youngsters: Mobile network service handivi.com allows you to do everything you can do with a web based social network service – socializing with friends, sharing pictures, videos and messages. Learn more about the meta mobile network by watching Viktoria’s interview with „hippie nerd developer“ Celso Pinto and „wannabee marketeer“ Vitor Domingos ;) If you use different social media applications like Flickr, Twitter, Delicious, FriendFeed etc., Tarpipe.com comes in really handy. The publishing platform simplifies your social media workflow and makes it easy to share content across various sites through an intuitive, Yahoo Pipes-like interface. Bruno Pedro is the co-founder of this great social media startup. The Star Tracker is all about connecting global Portuguese talent. The invitation-only social network aims to energize and empower the Portuguese diaspora of around 5 million people. Founder Leonardo Xavier believes that „everybody has talent“ and „we are what we are because of our talent and not because of our experience.“ Finally, a cool website catering to all action sports lovers: Social network Stream19.com – founded by Sergio Veiga - provides a forum for action sports athletes to showcase their videos, events, and friends. Stream19 also hosts a contest for talented kids – the so called “king of the spot” will become sponsored by a company.

In next Monday's episode of „The Top 5“, Tiburon-TV will be introducing „The Five Most Promising Dutch Startups“. For earlier episodes of „The Top 5“ please click here.
