Deutsche Telekom goes Open Development: With the launch of its Developer Garden, the German Telecom giant is among the first movers of the established German companies to take part in the App Store Trend. As Senior Vice President Technology Management at Deutsche Telekom AG, Thomas Moersdorf is responsible for the Developer Garden Program that has been initiated about a year ago: „It is our goal to provide an open collaboration platform between developers and the Deutsche Telekom. We have lots of interesting assets and web telco services to bring to the party - Voice Call API, SMS API, Location API, API Conference Call, just to name a few. We will be opening up many more channels and partner portals and combine the innovation efforts of Deutsche Telekom Laboratories with our open development efforts.“ „ Being a participant in the open development market is simply new to us“ admits Thomas „but we are committed to collaborate. Developers out there are sometimes much more creative than we are – they can ‚micro-segment’ the market and serve individual needs.“ To make it as easy as possible to make use of the Developer Garden portal, services itself are just one line of code. Just go to the portal, register and open up an account. Some services are billed while others are offered for free. As of tomorrow, we’ll be presenting interviews from the webinale conference that takes place in Berlin on May 25 – 27.
